Mediacorp Channel 8 News “Morning Express” Live Roadshow at DHS

On 12 Jan 2018 (Fri), Mediacorp’s Channel 8 News’ “Morning Express” was in Dunman High School (DHS) to conduct a roadshow from 8:30am – 12pm. Talk show hosts from the popular morning news programme came to the DHS campus to find out more about how DHS has been promoting Chinese culture through its various programmes and Core Curricular Activities (CCAs). One of the CCAs featured was the Beijing Opera CCA, which has a rich and enduring history in DHS.

From 9 – 9:45am, “Morning Express” also conducted a live telecast of their news talk show at DHS’ Performing Arts Centre! In addition to live interviews of our very own Dunmanians, the live telecast also featured snippets of performances by our Beijing Opera CCA members, as well as a collaborative opera performance between our Beijing Opera CCA members and the leader of a professional Teochew Opera Troupe.

Students were also able to try out various interaction booths set up around the Auditorium to learn more about life in the studio. This included trying their hands at being a news presenter at the mini-studio, which was similar to the one used for Morning Express. They could also see themselves live on camera, and even have a go at being a cameraman to experience what it is like to be a television production crew.
