Singapore-Thailand Enhanced Partnership (STEP) Camp 2019

From 7 to 13 July 2019, 10 Year 2 students attended the Singapore Thailand Enhanced Partnership (STEP) Camp 2019 with students from 19 other Singapore and Thailand schools in Rayong, Thailand. During the camp, the students were actively involved in team-building activities within the 200-acres compound of Nong Nooch Tropical Garden. They also had the privilege to learn more about Thai culture when they visited Rayongwittayakom School during the school exchange segment. Rayongwittayakom School has been a twinning partner school with Dunman High since 1998.

Below, we read the reflections of 2 Dunmanians who were participants of STEP Camp 2019:

“I never thought that I would enjoy this trip as much as I did. I would like to thank my amazing host family for being extremely hospitable and generous, helping me adapt quickly. They not only brought me to the most beautiful places in the region, they also introduced me to many local delicacies, allowing me to know so much more about Thailand. I am also very grateful towards my St. John Brigade squad mates who came on this trip with me. They gave me advice on how to overcome the initial awkwardness when interacting with my buddy. I would like to thank the teachers from both our school and Rayongwittayakom School who taught us many important lessons along the way, making this experience even more fulfilling and memorable.” – Yee Zhi Lin Anabelle (19Y2H)

“STEP Camp has been an extremely thrilling yet fulfilling experience for me. When I was first introduced to this opportunity, I was terrified at the thought of facing uncertain situations during the camp. Now, I can truly say that I have never regretted making the decision to join the camp. It has developed me as a leader and person, and has helped me understand what it means to have a “heart to care” and not leave anyone behind. Overall, the skills developed, the friendships forged, and memories made in STEP Camp would follow me through my life, and words cannot express how grateful I am for this opportunity.” – Yeo Ying Teck Arthur (19Y2J)
