Prudential Young Trailblazers 2019

Over the past two months, a group of Dunman High students comprising Xu Xicheng (19Y4K), Cheng Xin Yan (19Y4K) and Leo Qiyi Joel (19Y4K) took part in the Prudential Young Trailblazers 2019, a competition that aims to spark innovation and entrepreneurship in youths by guiding youths through an authentic process of identifying needs and then bridging the gaps to create a sustainable and impactful business model. The team designed a product named Voltcart, an add-on device to airport trolleys which allows them to return to their assigned docking station automatically. The team attended business writing and pitching workshops before engaging in a 3-minute pitching session to a panel of seasoned entrepreneurs and startup founders on 25 Aug 2019. We are happy to announce that the team has done the school proud by clinching “Overall Winner” as well as the “Most Innovative Award”! Congratulations to the team!

“We are honoured to be given the opportunity to gain valuable real life experiences from this competition and would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to our teacher-mentor Mr Chen Shunfa for his mentorship and advice, external industry mentors for their insights, the school for allowing us the use of the Makerspace for our prototyping needs as well as Dunmanians who have supported us during every step of our trailblazing journey! Thank you!” – Leo Qiyi Joel (19Y4k)
