Translation Course Immersion Trip Shanghai, China
During the June holidays from 29 May to 4 June, 13 Year 5 H2 Translation (Chinese) students went on a Study Immersion Trip to the top university in Shanghai, Fudan University, to learn more about the different aspects and fields of translation, and experience university life in China. The students sat in during lectures and participated in an exchange session with local students majoring in Translation Studies. The students also had a chance to stay in the International Students’ Hostel, enabling them to truly experience university and campus life.
They also had a chance to meet up with Dunmanians from the Bicultural Studies Programme (BSP) who were in Shanghai for an immersion programme as well. Singaporeans who are studying in Fudan University also met up with both groups of students and shared about university life and future career prospects. Besides having lessons, the students also went on sightseeing trips to many of Shanghai’s famous landmarks, including the Yu Garden, The Bund, Tianzifang and many more. All in all, the trip was both educational and fun, and was definitely an eye-opener for the students.
